Senate Resolution No. 11

Declaring Wednesday, February 28, 2001, as Children's Day in the
Senate.

Whereas, The responsibility of each generation is to make
provisions for succeeding generations; and

Whereas, The basis of civilization and perpetuation of any
society is rooted in the degree of commitment it has made for its
children; and

Whereas, The well-being of West Virginia's 430,000 children is
vital to the continued success of the state and the citizens it
serves; and

Whereas, It is the responsibility of each individual to become
involved in seeking opportunities to serve the needs of the young
and, in so doing, meet the potential for his or her own life; and

Whereas, The state recognizes its duty and responsibility to
each and every child in West Virginia; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby declares Wednesday, February 28, 2001,
as Children's Day; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate encourages all citizens to
join it in rededicating to the youth of our state our commitment to
them in meeting their needs in preparation for a full and
productive life; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the appropriate officials of the
Coalition for West Virginia's Children.
